Citizens Connected Email Settings
Wi-Fi Router
Below are the Incoming/Outgoing Mail Server settings required to keep email working on various devices.
Incoming Mail Server
- mail.citizens-tel.net
- Port 993
- Encryption Method SSL/TSL
Outgoing Mail Server
- mail.citizens-tel.net
- Port 465
- Encryption Method SSL/TSL
Desktop or Laptop Computer
Below are several programs used to access email on a computer. Find the program you use and follow the steps to change the information.
Outlook 2010
- From the File menu, select "Info" and choose "Account Settings."
- Select your Email account and click the "Change" button.
- Click the "More Settings..." button in the bottom-right corner of the E-Mail Accounts window.
- Incoming Settings:
- Username: Enter your email address Ex: myemail@email.com
- Password: Enter the password for your email account
- Server: mail.citizens-tel.net | Port 993
- Encryption method: SSL/TLS
- Server timeouts: 1 minute
- In the Internet Email Settings window, click the "Outgoing Server" tab.
- Make sure the Outgoing mail is set to:
- Server: mail.citizens-tel.net | Port 465
- Encryption method: SSL/TLS
- Server timeouts: 1 minute
- Verify the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" is checked and "use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.
Outlook365
- From the File menu, select "Info" and choose "Account Settings."
- Select your Email account and click the "Repair" button.
- Open Advanced options and check the "Let me repair my account manually" box. Click repair.
- Make sure Incoming mail is set to:
- Username: Enter your email address Ex: myemail@email.com
- Password: Enter the password for your email account
- Server: mail.citizens-tel.net | Port 993
- Encryption method: SSL/TLS
- Click the "Outgoing mail” arrow.
- Make sure Outgoing mail is set to:
- Server: mail.citizens-tel.net | Port 465
- Encryption method: SSL/TLS
- Server timeouts: 1 minute
- Verify the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" is checked and "use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.
Thunderbird
- Select the three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the Thunderbird application. Then select Account Settings.
- To change your Incoming Server settings, select Server Settings underneath your email address. Then make the following changes:
- Make sure Incoming mail is set to:
- Hostname: mail.citizens-tel.net
- Port 993
- Connection Security: SSL/TLS
- Authentication Method: Normal Password
- Username: Enter your email address Ex: myemail@email.com
- To change your Outgoing Server settings, select Outgoing Server on the left-hand side. Edit the existing configuration.
- Hostname: mail.citizens-tel.net
- Port 587
- Connection Security: SSL/TLS
- Authentication Method: Normal Password
- Username: Enter your email address Ex: myemail@email.com
Apple iPhone/iPad
- Tap on Settings.
- Select Mail then Accounts and select the email address.
- Tap Account and select SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server.
- Tap Primary Server.
- Tap on Authentication and select Password. Tap Done.
Android Smartphones/Tablets
- Open email
- Click menu (three lines)
- Click setting icon in the top right corner.
- Under Accounts, click on your email address.
- At the bottom of the screen click on “Server Settings”
- Change incoming/outgoing server setting to match “Default Settings” from the first page.
- Click “Done”
